  • It is best to use these oils after a therapeutic bath or sudsy shower. You can lightly pat your skin before application but don’t dry it off completely. Instead, leave some residue on the skin for a better effect.
  • You can also apply the oils while in the shower when you use the body wash and before drying. It will save you the extra time of applying a lotion to your skin.
  • If you have very dry or sensitive skin, you can also apply the oils before a shower. Again, it is because cleansing can strip your skin of the required natural oils. In addition, using oil can help lose a little less moisture.
  • You can also add a few drops of oil to your body cream. It will give it a luscious feel and provide more occlusive action for the dry skins that need them.

Coconut oil:  Coconut oil has many health benefits and is full of vitamin E and K. It gets easily absorbed in the skin. Coconut oil also possesses anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. In a research study, it is said that coconut oil was better at moisturising than olive oil. But it is not recommended for oily or acne-prone skin types as there is a high chance of breakouts. Olive Oil: Olive oil is rich in vitamin A, D, E, and K and is an excellent moisturiser due to its heavy consistency. Olive oil is suitable for all body applications and does not trigger allergic reactions easily. It will have the best effect if used off the Extra-virgin variety.

Shea Butter: It is made from the nuts of the African Shea tree and looks like a tallow-like substance. It is commonly found in solid form but starts melting at body temperature. It is also used in various moisturisers and hair products and generally does not cause allergic reactions. You can mix its simple form with either olive oil or coconut oil for a smoother feel.

Sunflower Seed Oil:  This oil can be easily found anywhere and is rich in vitamin E. It absorbs into the skin quickly and has excellent moisturising properties.

Almond Oil: This oil is made from pressed raw almonds and has several health benefits. It is full of Vitamin E, Zinc, protein, and Potassium. It is lighter than shea butter or olive oil and is also suitable for applying on the face. But it is better to avoid using this oil if you have sensitive skin as it may result in an allergic reaction.
