6 Tips to Make Your Game of Cornhole More Interesting

Cornhole is a good-old southern game frequently played at tailgating parties. Here are 6 tips for making your family cornhole game more interesting.

Cornhole is one of the most popular games you will encounter in the states. With so little variety behind how it is played, it always consists of dried corn kernels in a small bag tossed toward a hole in a board. It’s a little boring the five-hundredth time you play it. Here is how you can up that tempo and keep things interesting.

The 6 Tips to Improve Your cornhole Game

If you want to up your cornhole game, these top tips can help you beat off the competition.

1 – Think permanent

Although cornhole may have developed out of the bare-bones basics, that doesn’t mean it has to continue this way. In fact, making it a permanent feature gives you more control of the game itself. It also means it is not just for tailgating parties. You can take cornhole home with you. You can buy man cave cornhole boards which can make the perfect permanent feature to your shed, hidey hole, or man cave.

2 – Add legs

It’s true. Most cornhole boards fold out flat or fit on the back of a pickup. They don’t often come with legs. Adding legs to your homemade cornhole board can double the fun and triple the portability. Roll it out for family BBQs or take it camping with you.

3 – Add a decal

Nobody wants to play on a blank board – especially not when you have an entire world of sticker art at your disposal. Add some stickers to your liking, of your favorite characters, or with a film theme that pleases the kiddies. You can even add glow-in-the-dark decals for more fun.

4 – Consider lighting

Strip LED lighting is so easy to apply and takes seconds to do. Not only that, but it often runs on battery-operated systems. Installing strip lighting around the outside of your board will add heaps of color and make your board the best in town. Adults and kids alike will love the addition.

5 – Add an extra hole

Have you ever considered the possibility that you could have more than one hole? Each hole could have a different value attached. This would introduce more layers to your gameplay. You could even introduce an archery target or a dartboard scoring system.

6 – Switch up your height

Make your cornhole game easier or harder by raising or lowering the board. Adding legs allows this since you can make the game even more difficult by adding height on one side. If you are playing with young children, lowering that board lengthens the distance of the throw but makes the throw easier.

The Bonus Round – The Bags

Remember that the game isn’t all about the board, too. Think carefully about the bags you are using. Bright, colourful bags are ideal for younger players. Professionals might like something a little more uniform.
