The sponsorship relationship between Crystal Palace FC and the internet gaming W88 has ended. Before the 2022–23 season, the Premier League team agreed with the used vehicle marketplace Cinch. The decision was made as information about a change strategy gaming businesses sponsoring Premier League uniforms by the UK government gained momentum.
Over the W88 Deal
In place of a sponsorship agreement with online gaming company W88, Crystal Palace has chosen online vehicle dealer Cinch as its new front-of-shirt sponsor. The Premier League team is the most recent in a line of units increasingly questioning their ties to the gaming sector.
Before it’s 2020–21 campaign, Crystal Palace initially collaborated with W88 Thailand for a front-of-shirt sponsorship. The agreement resulted in the club’s adult jerseys for supporters and professional players bearing the symbol of the online gaming company. After parting ways with ManBetX, Crystal Palace welcomed its new major partner and shirt sponsor into a two-year agreement.
Supporters at the time were chosen W88 Thailand and why it was supporting “the Eagles,” as they refer to their team. Asian gaming company W88mobi has its main office in the Philippines. It supplies internet marketplaces in Australia, Canada, Malta, Slovakia, and Beijing with Exclusive to the sports business and its franchise owners.
W88 Mobile runs in the UK thanks to a deal with Midnight Gaming Limited, which has licenses for online gaming. Its target markets are in Asia. Hence it hasn’t shown much desire to enhance its services. Despite having a small footprint in the UK gaming industry, the operator was eager to have its name prominently displayed during the Premier League.
The Premier League is televised to 643 million households in 212 territories, making it the most watched sports league in the world. A potential audience of 4.7 billion individuals may be found in the highest division of the English football league system. Additionally, it is Asia’s most frequently viewed sports show.
A Brand That Values Families
After working with W88 Thailand for two seasons, Crystal Palace has revealed that its jerseys will now sport the symbol of a new sponsor for the forthcoming campaign. Cinch is a popular online marketplace where people may buy and sell second hand automobiles. The fastest-growing online vehicle marketplace in the UK is on its website.
Under the multi-year partnership, cinch will serve as the official front-of-shirt sponsor for both Crystal Palace’s men’s and women’s teams. In addition, it will take the place of the online payment processor AstroPay as the club’s official partner for training apparel. Cinch will gain brand exposure on Crystal Palace’s website, fan jerseys with the Academy teams, and at Selhurst Park.
It’s not cinch’s first time sponsoring a sports team; the Croydon club. Its collaborations include SPFL, Northampton Saints Rugby, and England Cricket. Barry Webber, Commercial Director at Crystal Palace, announced the agreement and praised cinch as a well-known, family-friendly brand. Webber also said
Both Cinch and Constellation Automotive Group Chairman Avril Palmer-Baunack were thrilled to announce the new alliance. She called breeze an ambitious brand and said the agreement would promote its growth in the UK auto industry. Although the price of the club’s new deal with Cinch has not been disclosed, it is believed that W88, the club’s former sponsor, paid Crystal Palace around £6.5 million each season.
