Tips to keep your candles looking great

Candles bring elegance and sophistication into any home. They are stunning for their fragrant scent and the warmth they create with candlelight. Here are some top tips for candle care to make sure you get the most out of your candles.

The addition of fragrance can give your brand personality and dimension. A home filled with wonderful fragrance is a great way to start the day. It shows that the owner cares for their space as much as the people who live there.

You can use it for many purposes, even though it might look like a regular candle. Use the best candle wax for candle making and learn a few tricks to make them last longer.

The First Burner

To ensure a candle’s “life” lasts for a long time, burn the candle until all the wax has melted. This will prevent the candle from burning unevenly and prevent tunneling. It may take up to 2 hours, but it will ensure your candle lasts.

Trim Your Wicks

To get the most out of your candle, it is important to keep your wick as short and clean as possible. It is a good idea that you trim the wick before lighting. Trimming the wick to 6mm is all that’s required. This will stop it from mushrooming and creating sooty fumes. This allows you to maximise the use of your candle’s flame.

How to Handle Soot

If the vessel has soot build-up, you can extinguish any candle and let it cool before wiping it off with a clean, damp towel. Relight the candle by taking out the wick.

Clean up the Wax

The wax pool must be free from any wick trimmings, matches or other debris.

How to Extinguish an Anti-Candle

Use a snuffer or a lighter to extinguish your candle. The melted wax will melt the wick. Once it is dipped, you can straighten the wick to stop it from smoking. Do not blow it out.

Avoid Windy Spaces

Draughts can decrease the time required to smoke, make it uneven and give off a stronger smell.

How to tell if your candle has been properly lit

The flame must be efficient if it doesn’t flicker, has teardrop-shaped edges and is upright. A candle should not flicker, smoke or become too hot for lighting. These signs indicate that the candle may not be properly burning or that it is not being lit well. Let the candle cool down and trim the wick. Check for drafts.

Do not Burn All the Places

Candles that have less than 10mm left in the jar should not be burnt. We strongly discourage you from burning the candle until it is completely gone. A solid base of wax must be used to prevent the flame from burning for too long.

Enhance Your Scent

The best way to disperse the fragrance is by opening your windows and doors. All windows and doors should be closed to ensure maximum fragrance. Before you go in, allow the flames to burn for about 30 minutes.

How to Store Candles

Place your candles in a dry and dark area. A glass cloche makes your candles look even more beautiful and protects them from dust.

Avoid Sunlight

Avoid placing candles near direct sunlight, indoor lighting or any other source of light such as a lamp.

How to Clean Candles

You can use a soft cloth or nylon to gently rub the candle’s surface to remove fingerprints. The cloth can be either dried or lightly dampened by water.

Refer to the Instructions

Candles are dangerous and should be handled with caution. The safety and usage instructions for candles must be followed. Use a candle only for the recommended time.
