Thinking of visiting Dubai with kids and have no idea whether such a family trip would be fun for everyone? That’s understandable.
The Dubai we are familiar with seeing in celebrity insta feeds does not usually look like the perfect spot for a family vacay. But the real Dubai does feature a ton of theme parks, fun activities, and attractions that can be fun for the entire family. And who doesn’t like the sight of turquoise waters crashing over glittering gold beaches?
So, in case you already have your Dubai tourist visa and are all set to plan your family vacation, here’s a list of the top 8 things to do in Dubai that are not just fun for the kids but for the entire family:
Go for some sandboarding
If you are going on a desert tour with young kids, sandboarding is something that should definitely be on your list. The idea is to basically take a snowboard and slide down the dunes. And kids can’t have enough of it! They will usually want to do it again and again and then keep talking about it for days after.
Spend the day at a water park
There are 3 different water parks to visit in and around Dubai i.e. the LEGOLAND Water Park, the Wild Wadi Waterpark, and Abu Dhabi’s famous Yas Waterworld. While all three water parks have their own features and attractions, you need not visit them all. But visiting at least one, especially if you are in Dubai with family, is an absolute must. The LEGOLAND Water Park is part of the LEGOLAND theme park so you could visit those on the same day. Aquaventure Atlantis is right beside the aquarium too so this is another water park you could visit during a day’s trip. All of the parks feature fun rides and activities that will keep the entire family entertained for hours.
Feel on top of the world atop Burj Khalifa
The tallest building in the world is a sight to behold in itself. But nothing takes your breath away than standing atop this dauntingly beautiful structure, with the wind lifting your hair, and the many bright lights of the city glimmering below. If you are visiting with family, a visit to the top of the Burj Khalifa also presents a chance to click amazingly insta worthy family vacation pictures. Perhaps one of the best time to visit the staggeringly tall building (2,722 ft!) is the sunset, although the skyline during the darker hours are something to behold as well.
Witness the dance of the fountains
Fountains that dance? Yes, sir. The Dubai Fountains at the base of the Burj Khalifa are famous for the bright, colourful ‘dance’ shows that will leave you feeling giddy and childlike. And since the shows are hosted every day, this is something you can witness with your family after a day spent shopping at the markets or on your way to a scrumptious dinner after a visit to the top of Burj Khalifa.
Go camel riding
Dubai is not just about luxurious markets and endless beaches. It is also the land of shimmering deserts. This means that one popular activity here is camel trekking. Adventurous and also safe for young kids, a camel trek and tour is an experience that you can enjoy as a family and something your kids will remember for years to come.
Take your kids to LEGOLAND
While LEGOs are often marketed as kids toys, adults and children alike are known to spend hours happily building structures out of these colourful bricks. So, if you are visiting Dubai with family, how can you not go to the city’s own LEGO theme park? The park features cool rides and lots of activities that you can take part in as a family. Best part? It also has a water park i.e. the LEGOLAND Dubai Water Park that combines the fun of water park activities with the LEGO theme.
Go on the safari of a lifetime
You can’t go to Dubai and skip dune bashing! While it’s not an activity for the faint hearted, it can still be a fun activity for the entire family. So, if you are a family addicted to adrenaline rushes, a 4×4 safari with the kids may just be what the doctor ordered.
Gawk at the marine life at the aquarium
When we say aquarium, we mean one of the two biggest aquariums in the city i.e. the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo in the Dubai Mall and Atlantis’ The Lost Chambers Aquarium.
Usually people visiting the Lost Chambers Aquarium make a day trip out of it by also going to the Aquaventure Water Park. Both of the places are located in the Atlantis Hotel so it makes sense to just spend a day exploring the aquarium and then playing at the water park.
The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo is inside the mall and is rather close to Burj Khalifa so you can again kill two birds with one stone by visiting both on the same day.
